Webb Alert Gives Credit Where Credit is Due

I was thinking that G4’s Morgan Webb was going to be late to the podcast party when I first heard about her show “Webb Alert”. Over the years tons of talent has left TechTV/G4 (Kevin Rose, Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton etc.) to forge their own success on the web. Morgan’s entry seemed a bit too little too late.

It’s funny how you can prejudge something. I have just digested every episode of Webb Alert for the past week. I can safely say that Morgan has captured something that most of the video podcasts out there have missed...a true blog news show.

Sure, a lot of podcasts out there talk about blog postings, but they always seem to play second fiddle to the “tech journalists” commentary. Morgan effectively and effortlessly shines a spotlight on the bloggers work, not her take on it. I especially have to give her props for the excellent visuals that highlight the website that the content was taken from.

I predict good things for this show. I’m guessing that she will join up with one of the big players in the online video arena very soon. My money would be on Revision3.

Keep it up Morgan, I’m definitely going to stay subscribed.

Here's a sample of the show...enjoy.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find Webb Alert almost unwatchable, thanks to Morgan's constant head movement while she speaks? The content's great - fresh and relevant - but as long as she looks like she's delivering it from a moving rollercoaster I'm not going to be a regular viewer.

Paul. I can see where you are coming from, but I try and review from the content aspect and not from the presentation aspect.

Granted Morgan is a professional and on TV most every night...maybe I shouldn't be cutting her slack...hmmm
